Trips ‘n Transport Tours and Safaris is based in Durban and in conjunction with Rosetta House Bed and Breakfast offers the following excursions from Durban:

HALF DAY TOURS:

1) DURBAN CITY TOUR - Explore the beautiful sub – tropical city of Durban, situated on the east coast of South Africa. Botanic Gardens (cycad garden, orchid house, ornamental lake with birdlife), Art Centre to view traditional Zulu beadwork and handicrafts, Victoria St Indian Market (curios, carvings and souvenirs), Golden Mile beachfront, yacht marina and harbour, City centre with historic Victorian buildings.

2) VALLEY OF THOUSAND HILLS - take a winding scenic route through the Thousand Hills, for a guided tour through the Zulu village to watch energetic tribal dancing. Hear the throb of the beating drum while they dance Tour of the kitchen and chiefs huts and hear about the fascinating history and culture of the Zulus, largest black group in South Africa. Marvel at the Zulus in their traditional beadwork and skins. Guided tour through the nearby Reptile Park included. Breathtaking views over the Valley.

3) TALA GAME RANCH - Spend the morning on exciting game drives through this private reserve where one may encounter rhino, giraffe, zebra, gnu, impala
and may other species of animal. Lake with prolific birdlife and hippo. Open plains so wildlife clearly visible.
Optional open jeep safari.

4) ORIENTAL EXPERIENCE - explore Durban’s historic Indian culture, giving the City its strong Asian influence, unique to South Africa. Visit the largest mosque
in the southern hemisphere, Durban’s oldest Hindu temple and enjoy a vegetarian lunch (included) at the beautifully decorated Hare Krishna Temple of
Understanding. Victoria St Indian Market for curios, carvings and souvenirs.

FULL DAY TOURS:

1) SANI PASS/ LESOTHO - Travel via the Natal Midlands to the spectacular Drakensberg Mountains, one of SA’s recently declared World Heritage Sites. Transfer
into a 4 wheel drive vehicle for an exciting ride up the second steepest mountain pass in the world, the Sani Pass. Visit a Sotho village for an explanation of life in
this mountain kingdom. Dramatic mountain scenery giving the country the name “Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho”
Lunch (included) in the “Highest Pub in Africa” (2873m above sea level)
Return to Durban in the early evening.

NB. Passports required and warm clothing advised. (Multiple Entry visas required for SA if visa required for SA)

2) SHAKALAND ZULU VILLAGE - Full day tour through the rolling fields of sugar cane and tribal area of Zululand where we visit the Zulu village of Shakaland. Here
they made the movie Shaka Zulu in 1985 depicting the history of the Zulu people and the rise and fall of Shaka Zulu, founder of the Zulu nation.
Experience the Zulu customs, cultures and traditions on a guided tour - beer tasting, spiritualist, herbalist and exhilarating dance show to the beat of powerful drums. Curio shop for wide variety of African souvenirs. Traditional buffet lunch (included) before departing for your return journey to Durban.


3) HLUHLUWE/ IMFOLOSI GAME RESERVE - spend an exciting day on safari in the oldest game reserve in Africa (1895), trying to spot the elusive “Big 5” animals. Also present are many different varieties of antelope and mammals. Prolific bird life for bird watchers. Lunch (own account) at Hilltop Camp.

4) BUSHMEN/SAN ROCK ART - suitable for those who enjoy a walk in the mountains as one takes a stroll through the mountains to the Main Caves in the protected Giant’s Castle area, for a guided tour and explanation of the San or Bsuhmen people who used to live in the mountains for many years. Marvel at their paintings on the rock faces depicting life as it was then. A medium physical fitness and walking shoes are required.

5) LAKE ST LUCIA/ ISIMANGALISO WETLAND PARK - take a scenic drive though the rolling sugar cane fields to the beautiful wilderness of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, now known as the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, SA’s first UNESCO site (establ in 2000) Here we have a tranquil boat ride up the estuary, flanked by black and white Mangrove swamps. Close up views of hippo and often crocodile too in the shallow estuary. African Fish Eagles and many different bird specis can be seen.Visit the nearby crocodile and snake park for a close up view of the African Nile Crocodile.
Light finger lunch (included) on the boat. Return to Durban in the late afternoon.
